Own Your Tone

An Electric Violin Performance Workshop

Live Online Workshop • 90 Minutes • January 31 • 12PM EST

Learn how to control your electric violin tone for live performance, recording, and streaming, so your sound translates clearly, consistently, and confidently wherever it goes.

This Workshop Is For You If…

  • You've been shocked by hitting a sound on stage that's totally different from what you heard at home
  • Front of house engineers keep changing your level, impacting your sound in live performance
  • Your recordings clip, sound thin, or don't match what you hear while through your amp, monitor, or computer when you are recording
  • Your live stream tone feels unpredictable or inconsistent, frustrating you, annoying your audience, and killing your confidence
  • You want the skills to perform, in any environment, with ease and confidence

Good News!
You don't need new gear.
What you DO need is a surefire way to understand and manage your signal.

What You'll Learn

Own Your Tone teaches you how to manage your electric violin signal before it reaches front of house, a computer mixer, or a streaming device.

This workshop builds directly on the ideas from our first session, going deeper into performance-level control.

You'll learn how to:

  • Establish a strong, reliable dry reference tone
  • Understand the difference between gain and volume (and why that matters)
  • Match effect levels so turning pedals on doesn't change your volume
  • Prepare your sound correctly for:
    • Live performance (and Front Of House)
    • Recording into a DAW or mixer
    • Mobile or desktop live streaming
  • Communicate clearly with sound engineers and make the adjustments they need with ease
  • Avoid common performance surprises before they happen

Your tone doesn't change because the venue changes.
It changes because the signal wasn't controlled before it got there.

Once you understand how to manage your signal:

  • Engineers trust you more
  • Recordings improve
  • Streams stabilize
  • Your sound stays exactly the way you intend

How This Workshop Is Structured

This is a practical, performance-oriented session, not a gear demo.

We'll cover:

1. The Performance Signal Stack

Where tone control actually begins, and where most players lose it.

2. Gain vs Volume (The Foundation)

How to set a reliable dry tone, then add effects without changing level.

3. One Signal, Three Destinations

How and why the same setup behaves differently for:

  • Front of house
  • Recording
  • Streaming

4. Presets & Preparation

How to adapt one setup for different performance contexts without rebuilding everything.

5. Troubleshooting Like a Pro

How to diagnose tone and level issues calmly and systematically.

What Makes This Different

This workshop focuses on control over quick fixes. While some of the fixes can be quick, most of these must be tailored to you. This workshop will show you how.

You won't leave with:

  • Presets you can't adapt
  • Gear you're told you "need"
  • Settings that only work in one performance setting

You will leave with:

  • A repeatable setup process
  • A way to test your sound before performance
  • A clear mental model you can use anywhere

Who This Is Designed For

  • Electric violinists performing live
  • Hybrid acoustic/electric players
  • Violinists recording at home
  • Creators streaming performances
  • Educators and advanced students

This is a workshop for all levels, focused on any player who wants to be confident in their sound, no matter where they play.
